Theory and Techniques

Dr. Koop uses a collaborative approach that fosters identifying the strengths and resources needed to help the patient(s) meet the challenges they are facing. She assists, guides, educates and coaches the patient(s) in exploring strategies and solutions that will enhance their strengths and foster the desired changes. Her multi systems approach includes behavioral, cognitive, emotional, spiritual and historical theoretical interventions to teach and develop the skills and resources patients need to overcome their challenges.

Philosophy on Progress

Therapy is usually the most productive when the patient(s) and therapist actively work together to resolve the challenges in the shortest number of sessions possible. Dr. Koop cooperatively defines with the patient(s) what progress means for them and works with them to generate new ideas, in order to discover what works and doesnt work in the healing and problem solving process. Patients are encouraged to discuss with Dr. Koop if they feel as though therapy is off track or if they are frustrated with the therapy process.
